Get to know Kristina Beck

In 2017 as the cable company was about to disconnect our internet for our move to NC, I was scrolling through last minute books to download. The unique cover of "Lives Collide" was what made me click.

What I didn’t know then was that I'd meet up later in the year with Kristina Beck as our paths began to cross.

The Collide Series continued with covers that are just as fun and eye catching and Kristina brings brilliant characters to life. Souls Collide is the final installment of the series. It releases on December 7th.

Author Interview

Q: Do you remember how we “met”? I believe we met via someone’s Facebook page. You suggested something on how to make teasers. After that I saw your name in Facebook groups. Q: Author: dream job or never expected to be doing this? I NEVER expected to do this. I always thought I was not creative in the least. But I have proven myself wrong and I love it. Q: Name one positive thing that you didn’t expect when you decided to publish. My self confidence shot threw the roof. After being at home with my kids for several years, I felt blah and knew I needed something. After I started this adventure, I am now able to do things I always hated doing. One example is presenting in front of a group of people. I hated it in school and I hated it after that. Now it is no problem for me. I actually really like it. I’ve already done a presentation on the self publishing process. Q: You’ve attended Rare London as well as other large signings. Tell us about your experiences and are there big names that you’ve fangirled over? I have attended RARE Berlin and RARE London. I’m glad I went to the one in Berlin first. It was a smaller group but still extremely overwhelming. Before I went, I met some great people on Facebook who were also going. We met up in Berlin so we wouldn’t be alone. The attending authors were awesome and the readers are so friendly. Even if you went to a signing event alone, you will make friends with other readers. If you are standing on line, talk to the people around you. This is really important for authors who are attending as readers. You just might find your next fan. I was also amazed about how many books some readers brought to the signings. Suitcases full!!!! RARE London was huge. I was able to meet Colleen Hoover and EL James amongst other big names. The lines to meet them were ridiculous. EL James was so relaxed and friendly. She went out of her way to make sure all books were signed. I volunteered for authors at these events. I was able to see what goes on behind the scenes, meet authors and observe what the signing authors do. It was a learning experience. I’m going to RARE Paris next year as a reader…still not I signing author. As of now, I should be Catherine Bybee’s volunteer at her table. I’m excited because I was her volunteer in Berlin. I will attend a signing in October 2019 as a signing author. It is the East Coast Author Convention. Here’s the link if you are curious. http://www.eastcoastauthorcon.com I could talk about this forever but I will stop now. Ha! Q: “Souls Collide” the third book in the Collide series. Did you know from the beginning that Alexa would get her own story? Yes, I did. Alexa is special and would kick anyone’s butt if someone caused any of her friends or family problems. I love her strength and attitude. She deserved her HEA after helping everyone find their’s. Q: Plug it, girl! What do you think readers are going to love best about this book?

Definitely Alexa's independent, don’t screw with me attitude. She’s successful with everything except love. That’s where angry Kent comes in. The spark between them is off the charts. Their banter was so much fun to write. Internal battles weren’t the main part of this book. Outside influences dominate the stress in the book. If someone likes a little romantic suspense, this is the book for them. Q: Which one of the Collide heroines is the most like you?

It’s hard to say because a lot of my traits are mixed into all of them. But, Tina from Dreams Collide, is probably the closest. Some of the situations she was in, is very much like something that would happen to me. I laughed a lot when writing this book. Since I’m living in Germany, I had to have at least one book connected to the German culture. Q: What’s your favorite social media (FB, Twit, IG, Pinterest, etc…) I can’t say I have a favorite because social media is exhausting. But, I’m on Facebook most of the time. That is where I connect the most with my readers. Q: Mama Question! You live and are raising you children in Germany, although you venture back to the states. Are there any uniquely American or uniquely German traditions that your family has at the holidays? I love the Christmas markets and decorations here. I find that the main part of towns are decorated more than in the states. But I miss the houses being decorated like they are in the States. I just moved to a new town and it’s very international. There are a couple of houses decorated like Christmas vacation. It makes me miss home. The Christmas markets are too crowded but it gives such a holiday feeling that you don’t care. It’s the atmosphere and people that matter. One thing that is more traditional here is decorating the Christmas tree. We do not do it until right before Christmas day….not weeks before. We always have a real tree. Germans still burn candles on their trees instead of electronic lights. We stopped the real candles for safety reasons since we have three kids running around the house. Thanks for having me as a guest on your blog. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Best of luck in 2019!
