Get to know Alyne Hart

December 17, 2018

Last spring, I signed up for Camp Nanowrimo. Alyne was our Cabin Leader. I did a little happy dance when I found out because she was someone that I’d wanted a chance to connect with.

I’ve had the opportunity to read advanced copies of both of Alyne’s 2018 releases and they are two of my favorite books of the year.

"Something Like This" releases on Tuesday, December 18th.

Author Interview

Q: Do you remember how we “met”?
Oh my gosh, I don't actually. Twitter maybe? I remember looking up to you, and being in awe of you! And fangirling when you were nice to me :)

Q: Author: dream job or never expected to be doing this?

Honestly, a little of both!

Q: Name one positive thing that you didn’t expect when you decided to publish.

So I knew nothing about publishing. I tell my publishing story as a cautionary tale to newbies! But the one thing I really didn't expect, was how supportive indie authors are of each other. I've made so many really amazing friendships with other authors, and I never would have predicted that.

Q: You recently pulled your first novel off the shelf with plans to republish. Tell readers what goes into transforming and older version of a book to make it better.

As I have said many times, I really knew nothing when I wrote The Island. I just had a story I wanted to tell. I was pretty proud of it too until I started learning how to craft a story, write dialogue and so on. The Island is written in a singular point of view about a polyamorous relationship. I'm not only going in and cleaning up the writing, structure and arc - but I am adding the POV of the other two characters which is adding a whole new dimension.

Q: “Something Like This” the third book in the Men of Evansdale Count series. But Vin and Von were original characters in book one. Did you always plan for them to have their own love story?

Yes! I just didn't know what I wanted to do with them, so I really chose not to develop them too much in The Space Between Us so I could go in and really have some fun. Giving them depth and character was so much fun.

Q: Plug it, girl! What do you think readers are going to love best about this book?

First there is the explosive chemistry between them that readers have been waiting for. But more than that, I think that there is a lot of heart that will be unexpected. Von's character really shaped and changed into a seriously strong woman that I just fell in love with. But then Vin - HOOBOY Vin. All I can say is giddyup for some seriously sweet heat.

Q: Count the number of cat items you own within arms reach.

Hahaha! Eight(ish) some pens, stickers and a little cat that sits on my glasses.

Q: What’s your favorite social media (FB, Twit, IG, Pinterest, etc…)

Facebook!

Q: Mama Question! You’re a single mom raising two boys, what would you do differently if they were girls?

Well...I probably wouldn't be yelling about the toilet seat as much, and we probably wouldn't go through as many pairs of sneakers as we do. But I'd do nothing else different! I'd love them just as hard, have an open and honest relationship as I do with my boys and enjoy spending as much time with them as possible.
